Easy Lemon Vinaigrette Dressing
Fresh and flavorful, this easy lemon vinaigrette dressing can be whipped up in just 5 minutes. It’s plant-based, sugar-free, and rich in healthy fats and vitamin C.
What’s the secret to eating more veggies at home? Having a deliciously tangy homemade salad dressing to drown them in, that’s what!
Guaranteed to become a new favorite, this lemon vinaigrette dressing will add freshness and flavor to your salad greens in minutes. There’s no special equipment required. All you need are three simple ingredients that you probably have in your kitchen right now.
One of the reasons I always make my salad dressings fresh at home is to avoid the unhealthy ingredients found in store-bought dressings.
Why You Should Limit Your Usage of Store-Bought Salad Dressings
Next time you look at the nutrition facts and ingredients list, you’ll see that most store-bought salad dressings are loaded with saturated fat and empty calories from sugar and low-grade, pro-inflammatory fats (like soybean or canola oil).
These ingredients wreak havoc on your hormones and waistline. No thank you, friends.
Oh, did I mention this lemon vinaigrette dressing also costs only a small fraction of the price to make? Quick, healthy, and budget-friendly—yep, just the way I like my dressings.
Another reason that this is one of my favorite salad dressings is that it checks the boxes for most special dietary restrictions, which takes the pressure off when you’re cooking for family and friends.
If you don’t make any modifications to the original recipe, you can let your guests know it’s sugar-free, gluten-free, vegan, keto, and paleo-friendly. Let’s hear it for being something everyone can enjoy!
How to Modify And Enjoy This Lemon Vinaigrette Dressing
This recipe is great just the way it is, but since it’s a recipe you might want to make over and over again, there are many different ways you can customize it. Here are some suggestions:
- Add fresh herbs (mint, basil, dill, cilantro)
- For extra flavor: lemon zest, maple syrup, orange juice, garlic
- Make it a honey-mustard dressing by whisking in some raw honey and coconut or Greek yogurt
- For a spicy kick: jalapeno, chili flakes, cayenne
There’s not much a lemon vinaigrette dressing doesn’t go well with. With it on hand, you can easily whip up a simple, everyday salad with pre-washed spring mix, cucumbers, bell peppers, radish, tomatoes, etc. in less than five minutes.
I also recommend using this dressing for a California-style salad with feta cheese, pecans, and avocado. You could also go the Italian route with olives, cherry tomatoes, prosciutto, and radicchio.

I added honey to soften the sourness of the lemons. Did not affect the integrity of the vinaigrette.
Very cool. Thanks for the tip, Beverly.
