13 Awesome Sweet Treats To Relax Your Stomach

Have you ever experienced this?

You feel so full after a big meal as if you have filled your stomach, your esophagus, up to your throat with food. There’s absolutely no room left and you secretly regret eating the last couple bites.

Then, a ridiculously delicious looking key lime pie or a cheese cake was placed in front of you as the perfect ending to the meal which we call “feast”. You were laying back on your chair with both of your hands on your stomach moaning, “I am done. I am so full!”

But your eyes betrayed you. Your eyes were completely locked on the dessert plate. Next minute, you raised your fork.

Sounds familiar, right? I have done the exact same thing for…God knows how many times. It’s HUMAN NATURE. Don’t you agree?

Research indicates that the sugar in sweet foods stimulates a reflex that expands the stomach.

It can decrease the pressure on the stomach and reduce the sensation of being full. A sweet dessert allows the stomach to make room for more food.

The secret is to eat a little bit of dessert after consuming a large meal. Let your stomach relax and expand so that you will feel less full.

Makes sense? All right then. Let’s be prepared.

Here are 13 awesome sweet treats to help relax your stomach! I have personally tried all of them. They are absolutely worth your time! You know me, there will be adjustments here and there, but your preferences come to first! Now, make them and go enjoy your feast with your family and friends!

#1. Carrot Cake | Recipe Link

This delicious carrot cake can be presented in three ways. You can use a 9×13 inch baking dish as the recipe states. Spread the frosting on top after getting the entire cake out. During the Mexico Entrepreneur Retreat, time was limited, equipment was limited, whereas those entrepreneurs’ appetite was not. I decided to go for the easiest and fastest way. It still looks pretty good, doesn’t it? Most importantly, people raved about it.

Carrot Cake

The second way of making this cake is to form into cupcakes and decrease the baking time to 18-20 minutes.

Say if you do want to make things fancy. Then prepare 2 9-inch cake pans and make a double-layered carrot cake and decorate it with your creativity. You might want to double the frosting in this case. Speaking of which, I highly recommend that you make the frosting according to the recipe. It’s so good!

What I did differently:

  • Substituted white sugar with brown sugar and decreased amount to 1 cup.
  • Used 1/2 cup oil and 1/2 cup apple sauce. If you don’t have apple sauce, make your own. Cut two peeled median apples in pieces and cover with water. Bring to a boil and simmer for 15 minutes until the apples are very soft. Blend well. That’s what I did in Mexico.
  • Chopped whatever nuts I had at the moment instead of walnuts only. I have tried with pecans mixed with almonds, walnuts with almonds. Whatever nuts you want to mix, it can’t go wrong!

#2. Strawberry Cheesecake Trifle | Recipe Link

This is one of my favorite homemade desserts. I once made it for a potluck pool party on a beautiful day. Of course, people loved it! It’s cheesy, sweet, cold and full of fresh strawberries. Great for a crowd!

Strawberry Cheesecake Trifle

The recipe is absolutely a keeper. I do have an advice. You can safely omit the sugar from this recipe. It’s not necessary at all!

#3. Strawberry Bread | Recipe Link

This Strawberry Bread is freaking delicious! Did you know that you can substitute the strawberry with banana to successfully turn it into a Banana Bread? Go ahead to fold some chocolate chips if you want. That’s what we did at the retreat in Mexico.

Strawberry Bread

I suggest you give both strawberry and banana a try. I love both! Again, regarding nuts, I have had enough practice to say that do whatever! In this case, I used pecans and walnuts together.

#5. Chocolate Peanut Butter Eggs | Recipe Link

Well, we just went through a nice strawberry section. Let’s move on to a chocolate section now! Are you excited? I AM! I am going to start with these cute Chocolate Peanut Butter Eggs!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Eggs

This recipe calls for 4 cups of powdered sugar. Instead of using it all, I gradually added the sugar and stopped at the point when the peanut butter filling could be shaped into eggs. The sweetness was perfect to me. Highly recommend you try these sweeties!

#6. “Whatever Floats Your Boat” Brownies | Recipe Link

Another great dessert that I selectively made for the group in Mexico and received absolutely positive feedback!

Brownie

I love the fact that this recipe allows you to fold whatever you prefer to your brownies with a list of options. I went for chocolate chips and raisins. The result was spectacular!

Whatever Floats Your Boat Brownies

Strongly recommend to enjoy this with vanilla ice cream. Just be careful because this is a very “dangerous” recipe to have as it’s just simply irresistible.

You won’t believe how easy this mousse recipe is and how good it tastes until you actually make it! I was shockingly surprised!

Nutella Mousse -2

The recipe calls for an electric mixer. If you don’t have one (me neither), a blender or food processor could be your option. Just do not over blend it. Enjoy!

#9. Chocolate Mousse | Recipe Link

Not having Nutella in hand doesn’t mean that you can’t make jaw-dropping chocolate mousse. By melting some chocolate chips in your microwave (it’s faster), you have a solid foundation to make this silky Chocolate Mousse. Just keep in mind that it’s very rich, smooth, and delicious!
